I’ve Been Nominated! #Liebster

Leibster AwardWhooohooo! Today I was nominated for the Liebster award, an award that is passed from blogger to blogger in order to help readers find new and fascinating blogs. If you become nominated for the Liebster award you answer 11 questions from the nominating blogger, come up with 11 new questions and nominate 11 new bloggers to answer them.

Thank you Lucy from Lucy’s Cities for nominating me! Here are the answers to my 11 questions:

What’s your favorite continent?  I would have to say Europe. I was amazed by the architecture, people, food and all of the amazing landscapes of that country. I’m moving to Asia soon so maybe my answer will change after exploring a new continent. 🙂

What inspires you in traveling? I am inspired by the people I meet on my adventures. I enjoy talking to others that have traveled and hearing about their travels as well as telling my own stories.

What was your first trip? I traveled a lot when I was younger, but my first trip outside of my home country was between my junior and senior year in high school. I went to Spain with a group of students for about two weeks. I think this is when the travel bug bit me. I have been traveling ever since. 🙂

Why is your blog called? My blog is called The Peterson Family Travels. My husband and I are about to set off on a new adventure abroad so I created it to document my travels in Asia.

What’s the best way for you to spend your time abroad? I enjoy getting to know the locals and finding out places to go that are off the beaten path. I love trying new foods so I also enjoy hole-in-the-wall local spots to get my grub on.

Is there any “horror story” you can tell from your adventures abroad? My first trip abroad back in high school was two weeks in Spain. About 4 of those days were spent in bed after getting Salmonella poisoning from a restaurant in Madrid. I also got the tip of my toe ran over by a small car in an alley (thankfully no broken bones) and also got pooped on by a bird. Surprisingly this was still one of my most memorable vacations. I was still able to have a blast minus all the mishaps.

What souvenirs do you bring from the countries you visit? I used to collect shot glasses but I have recently started collecting Starbucks mugs as my shot glass collection got out of hand.

What is your favorite picture you made during your travels? This is a tough one. I do have some great photos in Mexico riding camels with my husband when we were there for our wedding. They were so cute!

What is the place that has most inspired you? I would have to say Bermuda. It made me get out of my comfort zone and go on adventures I normally wouldn’t have. I met some amazing locals that told me about an area to swim in underwater caves- such an awesome time and gorgeous country.

What’s the best way for you to travel? I enjoy traveling with my husband, preferably somewhere warm. I really enjoy traveling by train. I have flown a ton in my life but still have anxiety when flying. 😦

How often do you write in your blog? This depends. I write a lot more when I am traveling. I am not traveling for the next 19 days so I probably won’t have too much content. Once we arrive to our new home in Asia and start traveling that part of the world, I know I will have A LOT more posts.
