Taean Tulip Festival

Featuredimage

This past weekend Adam and I took a drive to Taean to check out the Taean Tulip Festival. Taean is located about 65 miles east of us. Unfortunately with the traffic it took 3.5 hours to get there and 2.5 to get back. Despite being stuck in the car for most of the day we still had a wonderful time. (Adam may beg to differ.)

This year marks the fifth year for the festival in Taean. The festival was named one of the “World Top 5 Tulip Festivals Worth Travelling For” by the World Tulip Summit Society at the 2015 World Tulip Awards. The festival has over 1 million tulips with many of them planted to form a variety of figures, including the Mona Lisa.

Here are some of our shots we captured. Believe it or not, it is so much prettier in person. Enjoy!

As you can see, it was insanely beautiful. I’m so happy we had a pretty weekend off to go.

After we made our way around the festival we stopped off at Taeanhaean National Park to check out one of the beaches. The park includes about 230 km of seashore with 26 beaches giving you access to amazing views of the Yellow Sea. Even though it was 70 degrees out the wind from the Sea made it a tad bit chilly.

All in all we consider this a pretty successful weekend. This week we are heading up to Seoul to check out the Korean War Museum, Lotus Lantern Festival, Seoul Tower and a few other sites. May 5th is Children’s Day here in Korea so I actually only have to work Monday and Tuesday. Be sure to look out for our next blog post on our adventure in Seoul!

Have a great week! -Elaine
