Puerto Princesa Adventures

The highlight of our time in the Philippines was definitely our time spent at Noa Noa Private Island but we did spend a few days in Puerto Princesa before heading back to Korea. We stayed at Sheridan Beach Resort & Spa, one of the nicest resorts we could find in the area. You could tell the resort was older and there was some construction going on but it was still a nice place with a great pool area.

My favorite part about this stop of the trip was exploring the small island town next to the resort. It wasn’t very busy but it was neat to see a little bit of the Filipino culture.

One of the attractions in the area that draws in a lot of tourists is the Puerto Princesa Underground River. After speaking with a few other travelers we decided to skip the actual river part. Apparently the lines are usually insanely long, plus we have swam in underground rivers in Mexico and in underwater caves in Bermuda, Thailand and off the coast of NoaNoa Island, so hopefully we didn’t miss too much.

We did decide to go hiking in the national park that the river is located in. They won’t let you hike alone so we had to have a tour guide go with us. She was very nice but it would have been better to hike on our own at our own pace.

We found this refreshment fruit shack and got some yummy drinks with a splash of rum, well deserved.

After the hike we walked around the town for a bit more, took some beach pics and then enjoyed a New Year’s Eve dinner and show that the resort was putting on. We ended up in bed by 8pm for our 4am trip back to the airport. Next time we will plan that one a bit better. All in all it was a wonderful trip. I definitely recommend visiting the island of Palawan, Noa Noa Private Island in particular. It was something we will always remember.
